What is this....vegetable? (Here's hoping!)

image

Ok, so I think I've been a bit silly.

Basically, I've just come back from three weeks holiday and have been weeding a bed where I planted red Brussel sprout seeds a while ago. These don't look quite like a sprout...which either means my sprouts haven't germinated and these are weeds which have sprouted up very quickly, or these are actually Brussels. Any ideas? First time gardener fail!

Hi Charlotte. I'm a novice veg grower and can't ID your plant but I'm growing a variety of Brussels sprouts called "red delicious" for the first time. This is what my seedlings look like.

    Don't know if this helps?

  • Hmm. Yours look more purple with a smoother leaf. I'm worried  I've been tenderly encouraging weeds to grow now haha!

I've no idea what they're supposed to look like either image

I sowed mine indoors and planted out a couple of days ago.

Hopefully a proper veg grower will be along later to advise us both image

    Thats not a brussels sprout.

Brussela have smooth leaves like  kitty posted.

  • Oh dear :( what a waste of time! i better see if I can find something else to fill the bed!.

  • The leaves look very similar to these ...image

which could mean it's one of these which self seeded in my garden.
