Mine have all been wiped out by the aquilegia gall midge mite - as have pretty much all the others I have seen round here. Even Columbine Cottage has not escaped
I am selecting from the Touchwood seedlings to increase certain colours. The peach and raspberry double one,that nut also has , I want a big patch of. The double (quadruple) yellow, I have a load of seedlings off this year. It looks great in a shady corner, instant sunshine. The white stellata I will probably dig up, although it tends to glow in the gloaming.
I have some touchwood dragons breath, but I cant get the pics to load, I will have to try again tomorrow.
The violet pom pom sowed itself in a crack next to the garage. It shows up a bit bluer on the photo.I started with Nora Barlow, and others including the pom poms just appeared. The bees have been busy. I assume Nora Barlow genes for multiplying the layers of petals are at work. The raspberry ripple seed went to the Touchwood collection.I had a load from there and I am going to select the best and work from those. Black barlow is really a very dark purple. I did have a pale blue pom pom but hubby mowed it.
I like the upward facing flowers. Nuts blue pom pom faces up, all my pom poms face down. The star series was bred to have upwards facing flowers, but they are all single bicolours.
I am with you there fidgetbones - I like the upward facing flowers too, so much easier to see and admire - they are so beautiful that it seems a pity not to be able to see these flowers unless you are at ground level.
My favourite flowers, never have too many varieties as far as I'm concerned and I love (and I'm slightly jealous of) the ones you have fidgetbones. Three from my collection.
