I bought some organic anti slug granules, waste of time.

Now I use a head torch and a bucket and a rubber glove!!! and I drink my beer myself...Works for me.. The slugs get  'Flushed away; it is no good for sneaky snails.. I use copper tape bands around my veg planters works 100% if the slug touches the copper tape they get an electrolstatic charge which they do not like... The slug n' snail Barrier tape is in the Pound shops..  Garden centres sell it for £3.50p a pack.... I  got about 10 rolls hehe..

  • PeterFoster I asked at my local B & Q this morning when I was in there, Slug Clear has been withdrawn from sale, well at least in liquid form as I gather it was used in a suicide attempt (or so the young man was telling me) so I doubt you will get it unless you have one of those little local stores that stocks random hardware and cleaning products. I've yet to find a foolproof method but I have had moderate success with wool pellets although these are not cheap and you do need a fair amount around each plant. I'm hoping my resident frog will find a friend soon and produce lots of little slug eating offspring.

I use Nemaslug. It is safe for pets and wildlife. The nematodes come in a packet you add them to watering can and water the ground around your plants. The nematodes then keep infecting your slugs. The slug buries itself underground and dies so you don't find dead slugs everywhere for dogs to eat. the nematodes then multiply and find new slugs to kill. It says that it lasts around 6 weeks but I find it works all summer if you follow the instructions properly. I have used it for a few years now and finding that I have less slugs in the garden each year. i also find it has an impact on snails too as I find lots of empty shells.
