I only sowed courgettes two weeks ago...... just before my holidays. I'm a tad bit disappointed with them too, only one seed germinated whilst I was away, hopefully more have germinated, will see when I go down to the plot tomorrow. .
I hope they'll be more little seedlings waiting for you Zoomer.
i spotted some for sale in a local garden centre so if all else fails you could still maybe buy some...but I know it's not quite as satisfying as growing your own from seed.
I've only ever had a bumper crop once when I lived in London and sowed them into a patch at the end of the garden. Had loads that year. I've had success with them since but never as good as that year. I'm told that consistent watering is the trick.
You will soon recognize them once they start to grow a1154. The cucumbers seem to have little light green tendrils that grow out to support the plant on bamboos or other supports and the courgettes are lower growing. They both need similar care with plenty of water and feeding.
Put my mine out in a pot last weekend (also put toms in grow bags) and seem fine despite some v heavy downpours. I'm near Southend in Essex, so virtually driest and warmest place in England.

Hoping for some good'uns this year. I normally grown them in large pots with mixed results, so giving three of them a 1m sq bed to share.
