If you haven't planted any garden geums, that's Geum urbanum, wood avens, A weed with seeds that stick to clothes and animals and spread around like mad
As a novice in my new garden many years ago, I thought, how lucky I am to have a few geums in my garden. BIG MISTAKE. Twenty years on, I'm still battling with wood avens!
I strongly feel this is Japanese anemone. For those people saying it isn't, I really feel it is. The reason is because we have been clearing it from our garden for the past three years and I know it like the back of my hand. There isn't anything about the stems not coming from one base point – the stems just do whatever they want. If it has sprouted in various places in your garden, including coming out of paths, then it's definitely JA. Royal horticultural society class it as invasive shrub. It produced flowers which were tall and pretty but it quickly took over and colonised the garden. There are still massive rootss going underneath the lawn in our garden and the leaves still sprout up. It invaded our lawn we had to remove a significant section and re turf. If its difficult to dig up with the root, try Roundup but it takes a few goes.

If you look at that last photo, all the stems come out from the same base point. Japanese anemone doesn't do that,
