Buster T Dog was 9 and a half. He was my friend fro when he was 12 weeks old. I find it too hard to convey how I feel. I cannot imagine what it will be like without him. I was checking for Lilly beetles today, trying desperately to keep busy and kept thinking he was there, I talked to him about my glee in squishing another of the little red perils..and he wasn't really there .
not able to keep busy. Spent the day in my Spider-Man dressing gown, occasionally going into the garden to check on it but I can't stop waitping for him to come round the corner or out of the greenhouse. So I stopped going out.
I don't think I can ever have another companion. I don't think I can do this again .
Barefoot Gardener, It will take time,it will get better. But you have all the nice memories of him.It was a bit different for me, because i had the others. It might take a long time, but you might get another.A lot of people I know say they won't get another, but when months pass by, they do get one. All the best. Lots of hugs.
I understand how you must feel - our old dog died last August and I still miss her.
There are so many reminders - the chewed corner on the dresser, a stray ginger hair on a curtain, and the garden photos especially. Not just the ones of her, but the ones that somehow include a tail or leg or nose, cos she was always out there with me! They make me sad for a moment but also remind me that she was happy and enjoyed her life. She was an abandoned puppy and was cared for to the end.
Non pet owners sometimes fail to understand how much a pet can mean to us. When life or living is tough they love you whatever and it can help so much. But giving love can also help and when your first grief is over, you will probably find you are ready to take on another who needs a bit of what you have to offer
I now have 2 puppies from the dog's home. Sometimes I think I must have been mad to take them on, but they warned me earlier this morning that there were a dozen sheep loose in the garden, so they do have their uses!
What a lovely pic scroggin. I think the artistic folks would say great composition.. or something like that. Hope you don't mind but the horizon was bugging me as it was slightly on the skew (that's the trouble with being an engineer!) so I tweaked it very slightly
Been taking our 2 in Friston woods, started a couple of weeks ago one day it was 26d, so nice and cool in the woods, took the grandkids there 2 weeks ago half term, treated myself to a parking pass, for there Abbotts Wood and The Seven Sisters Country Park, getting my monies worth!

I have loads of tiny armadillos in my garden. My husband says they are woodlice, but what does he know? I'm the one with the biology degree.

My father, looking at my honeymoon "snaps" commented that my water was running downhill. My reply..."water does that".
Engineer schmengineer!
