imageThis is wilting in the heat so I'm wondering with big glossy leaves if this is a shade loving plant.  I bought it from a garden visit last year and lost the label on the way home so was waiting for it to flower to identify it but it's struggling in the heat.

  • It is Cuckoo Pint, Arum maculatum, which does prefer damp shade.

Ah.  Maybe the thing I bought died then?  I have CP all over the garden but I didn't recognise this as it.  Green bin it is for this then!

Hi TetleyT. The leaves look very similar to those of Arum maculatum - which is a woodland plant.

It's a plant I'm very fond of, in the right setting - but you paid money for it???  I'm sure there are plenty of people on here who would have given you some by the bucket-load ...

imageI don't think it is cuckoo pint, I have one to compare.  This is purple veined and doesn't have the hood in the middle, it looks more like cabbage or rhubarb family
