Thank you, i'm sure my Tree peony will reap the benefits of your knowledge. Its only a young one. no more than 8" in heigbt. I think this year it won't flower. The variety is Cardinal Vaughen
I bought an intersectional Bartzella last spring. It had two flowers last year, I am hoping for more this year. There is an old peony next door, that old Tom who used to live there called his peony rose. It is in heavy clay, totally ignored, never fed, and flowers its socks off year after year. I cut some for a vase (last years photo)
My soil is sandier, and struggles to retain food, and the peonies struggle also, apart from the tree peony which has migrated to where it is happy.
Some of the japanese double tree peonies are gorgeous, maybe for the next garden.
Beautiful white peony nut cutlet! I've just bought my first tree peony. A yellow one that is only about 4" tall. Not sure where to plant it though. Full sun or abit of shade? in a corner of the garden? I only have a very average 30' by 30' garden and don't want its roots to eventually take over a large area. Any suggestions?
Lovely nut and congrats! Please post another photo when it is fully out. I have a few August potted seeds but no sign yet so may take another year. Good job I'm patient.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Musher, I'm sure most people would suggest you look after it a bit better than I do.
