belinda if you have facebook, go on their page and complain on there, they tend to respond  and replace plants when you are complaining on their public fb page.

    .

I see that Crocus has surfaced again, I only used them once in 2013, bought almost £80 worth of Echinaceas  from them, they were total crap all of them, all sodden plants and all dead, not one plant survived!

I had to keep after them fore a refund, i finally gave up after three different reluctant refunds, I just about broke even from them!

Never again, but it is frustrating when someone on here posts how marvellous they are when my experience was horrendous!

Has anybody complained to QVC about poor quality plants being delivered? My workmates ordered 3 alstromeria large plugs from here ( Thompson and Morgan supplied QVC) and they look ill judging by her photo on her phone l think they have a season long guarantee and I've told her to contact customer services about a refund. So has anyone had success complaining to QVC?

I, too, had problems with T & M.  I ordered plants from the Daily Telegraph which turned out to be T & M (lillies) and I was unimpressed.  Never again!

But I did risk an order with Garden Express, and the plants were (are) superb and really good value.  Hostas are doing well.  The Hellebores (offer of three Hellebore Niger for £3 was fantastic value) are superb plants, too.  The rose looks healthy, and I have high hopes for a lovely display in due course.  Of course, I may just have been lucky . . . . . .

    Used Crocus many times.

99% of stuff has been fantastic [ certainly not stuff you could get from B and Q ]. On the odd occasion I have had a complaint, it has always been sorted promptly.

Some of their plants are grown elsewhere, but they do grow their own, I put a picture on here recently, showing their nursery. they have grown the plants for many Chelsea show gardens, and won many Gold medals.

How can you lie there and think of England

I'm not defending any of these companies in any way, but I do think some problems are caused or worsened by delivery companies not having a clue.

I've had situations where I wasn't in the first time they tried to deliver, so they went to a neighbour and by the time I got them, they'd been stored upside down for 2 days (it was a big box, they didn't have room to store it flat), or other times they've been taken back to the depot a couple of times.

I've shopped from Secret Gardening Club and whilst I love their plants, and free delivery is great, they take up to 5 working days for delivery. To me this seems a long time for young plants to be rattling around in the system, although maybe it doesn't do them any harm? Mine have generally been OK once I got them back in soil (most of it was in the cardboard box) and rehydrated.

Having said this, remember that your contract is with the mail order company and any problems caused by the delivery company are their problem, not yours. As others have said, they will make a claim off the delivery company if they have to give you a refund, so don't be afraid to complain!

Several years ago I ordered 5 roses, all different colours - a special offer in the Daily Mail. When they bloomed there were 4 red and 1 apricot. No more special offers from newspapers for me!!
