    Kill them.  With glee.  image

And frustration because I know I'm not making much of a dent in the population.

quick snip with scissors or secateurs has to be instant and painless surely? and they can still be eaten by other creatures.

    Messy I'll grant you.

I'd be moderately surprised if it could be shown that gastropods have a system for pain sensation, and astonished if they were conscious of it!

When you see the green stuff oozing out of a fat one, you know you've done the right thingimage

Squash slugs - usually between 2 large stones.

Snails get my best overarm lob into the paddock behind the house. Find it hard to kill snails - partly because they're bigger and also because Brian the snail was my favourite character in The Magic Roundabout... image

Topbird, I have a policy of never killing snails which are wearing hats and scarves.

I don't do anything to them but I will go out of my way to save a snail.

Moved my compost bags around this morning and had to ping a few into the border out of harms way.

Everything I pick up has a slug attached to it but they don't do much damage do they? Occasionally I'll dig up a weak plant in order to save it but I generally blame the plant for not trying harderimage

I can't bear the thought of killing anything so have created a holding home for all the unwanted creatures that I find amongst my plants. It has plenty of vegetation and soil to keep them happy and a mesh lid for air; once there is sufficient numbers contained therein we go on a little journey and release them to start their new life. I'm bonkers I know but I can't help it ... !
