My garden is cold and wet in winter and sluggy the rest of the year so I now only grow dahlias I'm given and in pots - hence the After Eights which were among last year's spares from a gardening friend. He gave me loads more but I've passed them on to another friend as she has better facilities for storing them over winter and a brother who's mad about dahlias.
I think it may, at last, be drying up and turning sunny. Good.
More rain expected tomorrow but that's OK as I have to do my patchwork homework and make some lemon curd for the group. Good luck with the jam BL. I love home-made strawberry jam. Yum.

Planted up a Dahlia bed at allotment last year and left them in the ground just put mulch on top of them and just started coming up , also got a couple in pots at home , over winter them in g/h , which are coming up nicely but notices a bit of slug damage
Chicky: How awful, must have been very frightening for your poor Dad, and for you and your sisters being so far away. Glad to hear he got to the hospital with the help of lovely neighbours and is now doing ok.
My Dad had a mini stroke 4 years ago but was in hospital at the time. It was following surgery for the heart attack he'd just had. No lasting effects though thankfully.
This is my first free day for about a week, had great plans to spend it in the garden and it has rained heavily and persistently all day, I am well and truly fed up. Everything is looking very sorry for itself. The only good thing is the grass is a beautiful fresh shade of green.
Chicky, I do hope your Dad makes a full recovery, you have had a bit of a run of bad luck lately haven't you, I hope things start to turn around for you, quickly!
Have caught up with all my e-mails, all the i*****g, h*******k and all other boring mundane jobs. Bored now and feeling a bit hungry, might make a cake, but then I have been trying to stay off the wine and cake so that is not such a good idea either, oh I do hate being stuck indoors. Might have to grab a rain mac and go and do something in the garden at least.
Have a good evening all.

Must be the week for it ... just heard that my favourite aunt, Ma's slightly younger sister, has had what appears to be a major stroke - she's always send she doesn't want to go to hospital - waiting to hear from cousin.

Cool tunnel with netting up to 1m high is 56ft x 21 and the hot one , all poly is 48ft x 21
