Yesterday was exciting, in all the wrong ways. My Dad had a mini stroke, and fell, inside a locked house, with all of us more than 50 miles away. With a bit of ingenuity the ambulance and neighbours were roused, and he got to hospital quickly. There, thankfully, the symptoms gradually reversed, and his system "righted" itself. He is left with a fractured foot where he fell, and three terrifed, but very thankful daugters.
So we will spend the next few weeks looking after him in relays ....at his home initially, but I think soon we will bring him up here - just need to get a bed set up downstairs.
So my sweetpeas remain unplanted. (That was a warped joke ....sweetpeas didn't figure in the list of things I cared about yesterday)
And to think, that this time last week we were all wandering round Chelsea with him, thinking how well he was doing.
Morning all , oh dear chicky so sorry to hear about your dad! Must have been a very frightening experience for both him, you and your sisters, I wish him all the best and a speedy recovery x
So sorry to hear about your Dad chicky. What a shock for you all. At least you are getting organised to care for him as he recovers and that he got treatment quickly. Life does tend to throw us curved balls when we least expect them. ((Hugs)).
Fairy it really is unusual for the ground to be so dry at this time of year. Normally the birdbath is self-filling but I seem to have to top it up most days.
Chicky ((hugs)) ........ worrying things, parents hope all settles down quickly.
KEF - good luck
PP, if you've got sunshine, could you sow my runners for me please - it'll save me going out and getting soaked
GWRS - are you going to the dentist with KEF? Enjoy the poppies
Fairy!!! So that's where it's gone!!! Send our fine dry weather back here immediately!!! You can have it when we're in Devon and Cornwall, and not before!!!
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I'm puzzled I was wondering if the collective knowledge of our clever Forkers could explain if 45 yo Amanda Holden's 95 yo mum gave birth to her at 50, or is she her step mum she calls mum?

Morning all.
Another beautiful sunny and breezy day.
I've just opened the polytunnels. 39.6 in there, but the breeze should cool it down.

Afternoon Pat
I did a very early post on Birthday thread then went back to bed.
Chicky (hugs) I hope your dad makes good progress
Don't be
Dove. You will soon be heading West
Ppauper, Fairy, Lesley and I will soon be doing a rain dance but only for a few light showers between midnight and 5am.
Hosta, are you growing tropical fruit in the tunnel?
Chicky, hugs.
Joyce, as soon as the sun hits it, the temperature rockets.
Mornin all!
I'm puzzled
