    Just the tip will do, unless they have become very leggy.

     

  • OK, thanks fidgetbones, the tallest are only at ~10cm right now and I did pinch out a couple to see what happened, I'll do the rest with confidence now!

    Thanks chicky and nut for sharing that very helpful tip. I wasn't aware of this and will try to sort them out next potting on session. image

    I've also taken note of Verdun's pinch, pinch and pinch again regime.  My first ever cosmos grown last year grew to well over 5ft tall, they were real monsters.

    I only sowed my cosmos seeds yesterday.  Last year I had two rows of them in the allotment for cutting flowers.  Just wondering if that was a mistake as they seeded in the plot and they are beginning to germinate now - they  will be popping up amongst the veggies.  They grew like trees even though I pinched them out regularly.  Wouldn't be with out them as they are beautiful.
