My seeds went in a little late due to holidays but they germinated fairly quickly. They are mainly in an unheated potting shed.
The last 2 weeks have seen some really low temperatures (Suffolk) especially at night when the temp in the shed has got down to only just above freezing nearly every night. Consequently the seedlings have not grown on very much at all. Sown at the end of March and none pricked out yet although a couple are just about ready for that.
AYM - even in Essex I would think it's a little early for putting tomatoes out. The earliest I've planted mine out has been end of May. If you can't take them out of the ground I would suggest that you buy some horticultural fleece and wrap them in that and perhaps some bubble wrap each night until the nights warm up. Tomatoes need night time temps over 8 - 10C really.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Sounds like you've done well there Aym - but I'd give those toms an overcoat for the next 2 nights - even old newspaper will help. Forecast for it to pick up a bit next week.
Hope so - we're having a little overnight trip away in the camper...

last week it was t-shirt weather. this week it snowed here on Tuesday and Wednesday, hard frost (-3) on Thursday morning and sleet again today, pretty certain some of my plants are now reversing into the ground!
