I'm actually running a little earlier than normal this year but I have two greenhouses full of tender stuff which I'm covering over each night and at least 2 more cold nights forecast so if anything else I've ordered arrives soon I'll be very strapped for space.
Because we had a mild winter here in Sussex I managed to get lots of perennials in which have all done very well and have grown quite big for April, they are all larger than they would normally be this time of year. I am holding off planting any hanging baskets or annuals as we are still having hard frosts but then we never start those until the 2nd week in May anyway.
Apart from being overrun with trays in the conservatory waiting to go into cold plastic growhouse, I've held back on pricking out some seedlings due to lack of space.
I've also noticed that they're not as advanced as last year (probably for the best), looking at a photo posted on 28th April last year I had much larger plants filling the shelves of the growhouse.
I was a little late sowing this year but only by 2 weeks, my seedling are still tiny.
Horrible sleety rain means I can't even get out to do a bit of weeding and pottering about.
I'm pretty sure I've normally got my summer containers done by now. Instead I have a lot of empty pots and a full greenhouse (and several windowsills).
I've got a waterlogged flowerbed which is very unusual so no chance of weeding any time soon.
Here in co Durham it's freezing, trying to snow?? And seedlings are doing nothing. I've got tray fulls of ungerminated seeds as it's too cold. At least three weeks behind last year when by now seedlings were well away. I haven't even done my hardy annuals yet which normally are direct sown in April. Really don't know wether to bother ??
Keeps snowing 4inch yesterday few inch today minus temperatures at night, normally have the GH packed full of bedding plants / tender perennials but most are still in house. My seedling are not as advanced as last years. Lots of 3 or 2 litre perennials outside ready to be planted out but snow on ground now and its getting more soggy as it melts. Got a plant order due today ( ordered last week ) was planting up a whole bed this weekend with monarda - veronicastrum - helenium etc but its very unlikely as this rate

I ordered 12 Foxgloves, 25 cosmos Xanthos, 3 iris Immortality, 3 Lodden Royalist, 3 verbascum, 16 fuschia, 22 salvia, 9 Echinacea, 5 lobelia, 11 dahlia, 3 aconitum, 1 eremurus, Most have arrived already.
If I could hold the weather by it's neck, I would throttle it

I'm in Essex too but on an exposed hillside (well OK, I know Essex doesn't really have hills so I mean an exposed little bump).
