My friend had to bury her chldrens' hamster Smokey. (I could write a book about flippin Smokey)!!! She placed him in the only box she had which was a cereal box. She still complains about the size of the hole she had to dig and swore that from then on they would be buried in kitchen roll shrouds!
She didn't have a garden so she was in the dark, in the park,on the sly, with a planting trowel!!
Was Golden Axe on this thread or the other one.... I can't remember? Anyway Golden Axe came from a litter of about 6 guinea pigs and Golden Axe's mummy managed to bump off a couple of them during Christmas dinner....something about unwashed leaves. They were buried in Pringles tubes!!!
I do a lot of laughing while reading on here. It's a tonic. Some of the stories are a scream. I just read David K's post over on the Dentist thread. It's awful in a macabre sort of way!!! Check it out.

Brilliant story Lantana, every good funeral should include laughter as well as the tears.

When we first got the hamster my girls mithered the life out of me to get a boy one too so they could have babies.
That abruptly stopped when I told them about mama hamsters cannibalistic tendencies when disturbed with newborns.
Too much reality for them!!!
