Is there anything missing from this home made compost?

    Lol Brenda, my house is very over looked so that might not be the best idea image How exactly do you wee in there?? Do you take off the lid and sit over it like a toilet?image hehe



    Yea no space for 2 bins but I do have a compost tool that mixes it all up and I do this once a week image

    Welsh onion I did think when I was putting everything in that there was a lot of sawdust. So next time I might go with the straw more than the sawdust.

    Craig, I'd "do it" in  a bucket then add later. 

    I add cardboard and newspaper to mine. I tear the newspaper into ribbons which is a lot easier than it sounds. The Times goes top to bottom, ( you'll find it either top to bottom or side to side depending on your paper )

    Verdun, I too am  keen to know why you avoid them.

    when we moved I composted all the removal boxes ( millions of them )and I used to put a single layer on the bin, cover that with a fresh layer of grass clippings and carry on adding as normal until I was about to cut grass again, then repeat. 

    It rotted wonderfully and the only time I was aware of it was when I found the odd bit of missed packing tape .

    It's only male wee, not female! I find that the little compost worms love cardboard.
