Is there anything missing from this home made compost?

Hi guys,

Last year I made compost, which was successful and I spread it as a mulch today over the borders and I have now started another batch. The previous batch was just really chuck everything in and see what happens, but this year I want to make sure I get a well balanced compost. So could you please let me know if there is anything else I need to add to the new batch that isn't already on the following list? Also could you tell me if everything I have in there now sounds good or is there too much of one thing and not the other? Thanks :0)

So there is roughly around 70% Sawdust and straw with rabbit and guinea pig manure.
Around 20% grass clippings (mixed in well to avoid it going soggy).
And around 10% waste veg including...
Cabbage
Carrots
Potato peelings
Bananna skins
Used tea bags
Egg shells

Thanks Verdun. As I only have one of those plastic compost bins it probably won't be a hot compost heap but could I add some twigs from small shrubs I've chopped back?

Agree with Verdun as there is a good balance of ingredients in your compost mix. As long as you mix it up periodically and keep it watered when required that mix should give some quality compost

Excellent. I wish I had room for a couple of compost bins but my garden is just too small to have another :-/

Where is the brown stuff? Cardboard, shredded paper for instance.

I thought straw and sawdust was the brown stuff?

Not keen on adding cardboard....shredded paper sometimes though but not newspapers.

It is a myth that anything citrus should not be put in a compost heap. And go easy on sawdust.
