The shed must be sited at least 1 metre away from the boundary of the property and should be at least 2 metres away from the main house. The height of the eaves must not exceed 2.5 metres and the ridge height should be no more than 4 metres (3 metres if flat roof). The shed can't take up more than 50% of the garden area. Other than that, not a lot you can do. Sorry.
Tim where do you get the 1 meter away from the boundary from.

Devon and cornwall are lovely but Dads family are from Ufford in Suffolk and pink houses piped with icing like german biscuits make me smile. Besides east anglia is cheaper than west country which was hubbies choice.
I know Ufford - I went to school at Framlingham, brother and all his family live around Woodbridge and my son lives near Aldeburgh I used to live in one of those iced houses. It's the driest part of the country too

Sorry Nin, was a bit economical with the rules. If it's more then 15m2 shed then it has to be away from the boundary by 1m. Under 15m2 then it can be less than 1m. Do you know how big the new shed is?
I've always wanted to go to Aldeburgh (becasue of the MR James connection), is it a nice place to spend a weekend?
Lovely - absolutely lovely, as is the whole area - and of course there's the Aldeburgh Festival etc and loads of other interesting stuff happening around, yet it's still pretty unspoilt and rural. Minsmere RSPB reserve just up the coast, plus the wonderful Walberswick, Southwold and Dunwich ... I could go on and on - it's my old stamping ground and I love it. If you want any info just shout

Only seems to apply to buildings, not gardens.

15m2 is a big shed. In 'old money' it the equivalent of about 16 feet by 10 feet i.e. garage size.
