Hi everyone, Have read back but can't remember much so apologies. Hope you and hubby feel better soon Wonky. Everyone seems to have been busy in the garden. I have potted up some seedlings and plug plants.
The removal van has been booked to get Secondborn's furniture out of storage on the 16th of April. They are just hoping they will be ready on time ie. Boiler commissioned, carpets down and bathroom finished (wished they had an smiley for fingers crossed). Baby is still breach so she is booked in for a csection on 21st April, unless of course he decides to turn before that date.
Hoping to get out in the garden as soon as this shower ends. Have a good day everyone.
Morning - have had a busy couple of days - too boring to tell you about
Just wanted to share a couple of exciting things only fellow gardeners will understand.
Driving near Milton Keynes yesterday saw my first proper patch of native bluebells - looked stunning. I don't know if it was a particularly sunny, sheltered spot but, so far, I've seen little sign of them in Suffolk!
Sowed 20 trays of seeds on Sunday afternoon and - joy of joys - the 1st cosmos has raised it's pretty little head this morning
Best wishes to Wonky & OH - get well soon. Best wishes to you too Dove - enjoy whatever time you can with Ma
BL - Thetford GC is quite a good one - plants are usually reasonable quality & they have a very good tools / machinery department although it sounds as though you won't be needing too much in the way of machinery! Don't like the one at Bressingham so much now - it was very good when it was run by the Bloom family but is now another Wyevale with more than it's fair share of scented candles, 'gifts', tacky garden ornaments etc. The excellent plant selection has been replaced with a much more mundane range (IMO). Better than many though - and a decent cafe last time I went!
Hosta - hope you enjoy the opera - one of my favourites. Love shopping for wellies
Yvie - imagine your nails are down to the quick now - hope all goes well.
Hope everyone else is keeping well.
Cold and windy out there today but I need to pull my woolly hat on & go shovel yet more topsoil. Really want to get this job finished today & before the rain forecast for this afternoon arrives.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Still no tool bar on safari or chrome. Very strange, ever since I cleared a pop up and made certain no more would appear, the tool bar disappeared with i

Spent yesterday relaxing (didn't) get up till late and visiting the dentist Looks like I'm going to have 2 teeth out One is a wisdom tooth (no point in keeping apparently) and the other looks like the root has split so can't be saved. He will check that one first before removing. On a positive note, it will drop me down a band and make my dental insurance cheaper My dentist went private in the summer and being the phobic panda I am I won't see anyone else so I'm just going to have to pay up!
Yvie, I'm crossing my fingers too..... although I was a breach baby without ceasarian poor Ma Panda......
Can I be cheeky and ask if you have any tofu tips. My daughter is a veggie but has only used it once, she used it for a satay stir fry but said it was too wet.
I'm not sure of her method as she cooked it at boyfriends house. I fancy giving it a go myself to make a change from using quorn mince all the time (she doesn't like the quorn chunks).
I'm not vegetarian but I do like a lot of vegetarian food (but not quorn )
I had a bad cholesterol reading recently so we've decided to eat demi-veg during the week and only eat our usual diet at weekends.
I always press tofu for about an hour before marinading to remove a lot of the water. If you freeze it for a few hours after pressing it will absorb even more flavour.
I'm also a member of a food forum which has a vegetarian membership and section - it's run by a group of friends and not allied to any business or organisation - you and your daughter are welcome to have a look and even join if you like. The first few posts are Moderated and won't appear until they've been checked to avoid spammers, but once you've posted a few times it's as simple as on here.
Thanks a lot for that Dove I'm definitely going to give it a go.
I shall press some this afternoon and then put it in the freezer for weekend.
I use the mince for chillies, cottage pie etc and have to do a meat version at the same time for hubby and youngest daughter. It's the same with stir fry (I have 2 woks) just leave the meat and oyster sauce out of hers.
While I was i**ning OH just rushed out and got the washing in for me and draped it around a radiator for when the heating comes on in the evening - now the rain is hammering on the west-facing windows! Phew - just in time - it was nearly dry

I meant to say - I use silken tofu in a carton.
