This was last summer but does not do them justice. Also, Alstroemeria, Helenium, Ricinus, and Dahlia. The Alstroemeria last flowered in November overwintered in full leaf and is already developing new flower buds.
Planted mine yesterday from last years seed that I collected. The seed look like exotic beetles don't they. The seeds I bought from Jungle Seeds last year had a very poor germination rate so I am hoping that the DIY proves more successful.

My flowering ginger and my garden...
To cut or not to cut... That is the question?
Don't know about the ginger, but WOW, what a stunning view!!

Thanks, I am on Portland Harbour in Dorset. Great for being warm and sunny but very storm battered at times.
I'd not cut those back. They're still doing what they're meant to do, using the sun to make food.
The new foliage will soon come through and you won't even notice those, very , very slightly tatty leaves.
I'd love to see them when they flower.

My first Ricinus seeds came from Kefalonia and they were wonderful. Then a friend sent me some from Crete and they too were wonderful.
I collected my own and sowed last year, very poor germination even though the seeds looked fine. I went back to the Crete batch and had almost 100%
Fresh batch from Crete in Autumn , about 70% germination.
