Flowering ginger query

helentofthelentoft Posts: 24

My healthy flowering ginger that gave a great display last summer still has its leaves on, slightly weather beaten but still live. Should I cut them back to allow the plant to put its energy into new leaves?

I don't know but I will bump this up to the top as Hostafan will be in from his garden shortly and he grows loads of it.image

I treat them like Cannas, and cut them down to the ground.

I think that's what Hosta does with his Doc, not sure but I think so. They grow huge, 6' or more.

I'd say if the leaves are grotty looking, I'd remove, but if they still look healthy, I'd leave.

Not sure how bad " slightly weather beaten " is. image
