Ground cover

Hi folks can anyone point me in the right direction I'm looking for low growing perennial plants or seeds fragrant ever green that grows no more than 6/8 inches tall that have a good spread.

    Should have explained myself a bit better I my oh wants ground cover plants for the front border I have cerastium snow in summer for the frontbut she wants red@white for the back ever green with a scent I have white and red clematis growing on the fence and she wants to match

    Well, red thyme will spread to look like this

     but it can be a bit fussy about its growing conditions. 

    Has your OH seen any pictures of something she likes ... that might be the best way to start .... if we leave it totally to a non-gardener's imagination she might conjure up something that doesn't exist image

    Dove she doesn't garden :-S I think you are right she has imagined what she wants and it does not exist I have been on every site your picture looks stunning and may be exactly what I am looking for I will look into its growing needs and see if I can get close to it thanks image

    Dianthus Deltoides, I am growing Arctic Fire from seed. http://www.perennials.com/plants/dianthus-deltoides-arctic-fire.html

    They come in red shades, white pink etc.

    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
