I ordered two bare root standard floribunda roses.. They were £50 for 2 which I thought was OTT. I follwed instructions to the letter.. Nada, Zilch dead as door nails.. So I complained big time and got a full refund..eventually.. So I will think twice when buying from them. I did not ask for 'Bare root versions' I guess they were saving on the shipping cost. But for £50 I expected better...

Aym280 stop naming plants that will end up on my shopping list image only joking. I think my garden would make Montys toes curl, but I keep plodding away. I love meconopsis too I think it's so beautiful. I have 2 clematises and similarly would love more. I'm hoping the birthday fairy will bring me a Hebe heartbreaker and a passionflower this year

Aym280 I'll sure be on the lookout at boot sales thanks for the tip. That man sure got a good deal. I got 90% of my spring flowering bulbs in poundland and I can't fault them. I sometimes find a bargain advertised in lidl too.

Aym280 unfortunately we don't have an Aldi anywhere close but if I go further afield and see one I will have a quick snoop. B&Q is minutes away buy I never think of them for plants I will have to go more often. I've had a couple of bargains from Homebase but again will have to go more often. Last year I got 4 lavender bushes ??1 each and 2 hanging baskets of strawberries ??1.20 each....I only wanted the baskets but the strawberries soon found a home too image

Aym280 I live in Cambridgeshire about 2 minutes from the Norfolk border. You certainly get some good bargains.... I will wait a while and go hunting myself. As you say it's not great having every spare bit of space in the house filled with something or another in pots and bags. My cat gets decidedly grumpier the more window ledges I take from her image

Went to Tescos yesterday saw trays and trays of wilting pansys all dying through lack of water, why do they even bother to sell them?

My toad lilies and Hostas have arrived. Decent sizes bare root pieces and I have seen much worse. For the money I paid (not much) I'm quite happy with what I've got. All potted up waiting for nature to do its thing image

Wouldn't deal with Bakkers. Have 2 or 3 advertising standards rulings against them for sending out misleading mail about winning prize draws etc. They constantly send stuff to my elderly relative encouraging  him to buy plants implying that he will then receive cheques or valuable gifts. Bombard him  with "free gifts" of absolute rubbish. I am suspicious that buying from Bakker has led to him being on mugs list and receiving junk prize draw type mail from other companies
