I find that a simple solution of a few drops Ecover washing up liquid in half a pint of water in a hand sprayer deals with most things if the birds and predatory insects aren't doing their duty. Aphids usually get a fierce jet of water from the hosepipe. I always leave some for the birds and ladybirds, otherwise they might give up and go elsewhere for their breakfast.
