Sounds like it'll be a great transformation Lou.  Always really satisfying when you do something like that   image

Thank you, will definitely be pics once I've put the plants in.

Right, found the camera, there is something this needs but not sure what, I have loads of plants to put in so it will be packed. My garden looks a bit grim this time of year so apologies. There will be ferns aplenty.

I can't have this bed any wider as it will get in the way of the summerhouse door, I could make it a bit longer but it would lose it's nice curve. The ned is longer than it looks in the photo due to the angle. I could bring the straight bit in the middle out a bit, maybe a foot or two as it's quite narrow.

Yes, I'd widen the whole bed as much as possible, making it one bug curve, so that piece of lawn is almost like a semi-circle - even do the same on the right and make the far piece of lawn circular and then a semi-circle at this end linked to each other like three-quarters of a fat figure of eight.

Lou - just a thought. Would you consider removing the bit of border  at the s'house and making a little area in front of it (gravel/paving) for a seat /bench? You could then make a bigger curved bed coming round to meet your tree at bottom of the pic.

That solves the problem of the door opening too. image

It looks a little odd, 2 curved areas, with a straight bit in between. I like what Verdun suggests.

Yes, it looks a bit more odd in the photo, it is bigger than that - it's the photo angle. Trouble is I physically cannot make it any wider as I wouldn't be able to open the summerhouse door, I can make it longer and expand the semi circular bed around the tree a bit and make the narrow bed a bit wider but that's about it.
