Most asgapanthus require a good drainage to the soil. I have a clay soil but I have applied a large amount of grit and good compost when bedding then in my boarders. I would also select deciduous type as appossed to evergreen agapanthus as they seem to respond better when in a boarder
Also feed them every 3 weeks with a tomato feed as mine always seem to bloom up to their full potential in summer when I follows this feeding programme
