Plant identification.

Hi all, i have had this shrub in a pot on the patio for a couple of years, and have been racking my pea-like brain trying to remember what it is called. It's evergreen, quite slow growing and has gorgeous little red flowers when it is in bloom, spring or summer (once again, cannot remember)

I'm under strict instructions to reduce the number of pots and planters dotted around the garden and patio, so i would like to get this into the border, unfortunately i only have a spare place for it in an east facing border, and wondered if it will be ok there.

As usual, thanks in anticipation,

Pat.

  • Yes, that's it, well done both. Not sure an east facing border would be ideal, I may leave it in it's pot. The strange thing is, I went out into the garden this morning to sort out the pot n planter "problem" I started with 18 pots etc, 4 hours later after much tidying and dividing, I've now got 24 pots n planters, what happened there? Lol, and I've still got the cannas and banana plants to pot up. Anyone know a good divorce lawyer?

I know the feeling Brickman. I started off with 7 beds of Hostas in my polytunnel.

After splitting over the last few weeks, I now have 21 beds and I've not even started splitting those in the ground outside.

  • Oh, I nearly forgot about my hostas, might need to get some more pots tomorrow ????

I've just finished agapanthus ( about 65 ), but the cannas have still to be done.

  • I've never had much luck with agapanthus, I tried a couple last year and haven't seen them since lol.

Think I'll have a look at the hostas next weekend.

My agapanthus are all in pots due to our hideous , sodden heavy clay.

One day I'll sort out a nicely draining bed so I can get them in the ground.

  • Mine's heavy clay too, probably explains my disappearing agapanthus.
