hypercharleyfarley - ???? - Thankyou for yr help identifying this fruit. Whilst yes, it is an "immature" fruit - the skin is not at all citric ? It's thin like an avocado skin. I have watched utube peeling a pomelo, where skin appears thick & citric. In Thailand the season for pomelo is August to November they tell me.
I wondered about guavas, but - there doesn't seem any indication of seeds, the fruit shown seems too big for guava and the flesh is much more like pomelo. What a mystery! Looking forward to finding out exactly what it is.
p.s. lived in Singapore for a while & have travelled a bit in the Far East, so familiar with some of the "exotic" fruits which we rarely see here in the UK.

Haven't heard back from the Thai farmer yet, but another Australian contact is suggesting avocado.

i too, think the skin looks like avocado - but when cut open, you can see it isn't that either? No pip!

Not heard from the Thai farmer yet, but there's a pretty strong concensus at the moment on the food forum that it's a type of guava
