I hesitate to rub it in, as it were, but here in the South West (Devon) we have had a glorious few days.  A little more hazy cloud today, but overall warm and pleasant.  As they said on the weather forecast "West is Best".  (We're making the most of it - usually the prevailing westerly winds give us the rain that other parts of the country avoid).

  • In SW Ireland last few days have been dry and warm ... forecast is good until Wednesday week?

    Still raining.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

"West is Best" for me too.

Perfect weather for moving stuff. Not too warm and not too sunny, but dry enough to dig stuff , but ground is still damp so plants aren't too stressed.

    Devon.

Still grey but at least it's not supposed to rain today ( fingers crossed) and maybe a tad warmer too. Just checked our the long range forecast .......it should be quite nice by next Monday! Grrrrrrrr just as I go back to work..... typical!

Enjoy the sunshine those who have it.

    Mizzly today.

I have lived too long in East Anglia to moan about rain. We spend most summers battling semi-drought conditions and I really resent spending hours watering the garden - so a good soaking is fine by me.

BUT - I hate the wind. No good for anything except getting washing dry. Dries things out more when there's no rain, blows stuff around the garden when I'm trying to work and destroys the shape of plants when they're in full leaf and flower.

I do stake quite a lot of plants but weather like this always makes me realise I should have done many more. Some emergency staking needed when it dries up a bit....

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
