I found the programme very disappointing. The presenters were smug and patronising. There was very little useful advice. All I noticed was how to tidy up grass and a bit of pruning. There is no time in a half hour programme to waste watching a ma walking about with his dog.
I was reminded of Blue Peter in the Valerie Singleton days and I didn't like that programme much either.
The whole thing struck me as lazy and unimaginative.
I liked the feature on developments at Sissinghurst, and look forward to more in future programmes. The slow start to proper spring weather this year is slowing the programme down a bit but I'm sure it'll speed up as the soil warms.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Am I on my own not wanting the programme to change?? It is just a nice, gentle half hour, and it DOES inspire me to get into my garden to do stuff, and I look forward to it every week.
I think the big problem is that there aren't enough gardening programmes, and Beechgrove should be on either before or after GW!!!
Totally agree richondac about the time..30 mins is far too short for this programme..should be at least an hour as should Beechgrove and any other gardening programme.
I agree too, not enough gardening programmes although I am enjoying the small space garden programme with Monty as well as GW. I wonder when he will start sowing his seeds.
It seems to me that the problem is that we often want different things and GW cannot cover it all. There is also a need to be entertaining - even the prolonged cake baking programmes have to have comedy and drama and personalities. If you want a serious, expert discussion of gardening then Friday evening is unlikely to be its natural home: it's quite difficult to imagine what sort of viewing figures it would attract. As it is, there is advice for beginners, inspiration for many, delightful garden visits and Monty's natural charm. I like the dogs, too! I simply cannot see how anyone could dislike the presenters, even if you don't always agree with them or share their views. Half an hour of gentle gardening from the sofa on Friday evening? Lovely!

I really enjoyed it. Loved the nice mix of gardening and the lovely doggies. Best 30 minutes of my week.
aym, quaking grass ( Briza Maxima ) grows like a weed in this garden. Leftover from previous owners. I have to pull out hundreds every year.
I thought that story on the siting hurst garden was abit pointless
But the new dog was cute
