Language evolves. That includes,grammar,spelling,pronunciation,usage etc.
The more we are able to manipulate these, the more control we have over what is understood by the person with whom we are communicating. But this only works if that person has knowledge of the same rules and conventions (whether they choose to accept them or not).
lWhat matters should be what a person has,to say not how they say it, but this is rarely the case..

KEF - 'one square metre' is the area of 'one metre square' but it doesn't work like that for any other size. 'Ten metres square' means ten metres along each side, and therefore a hundred square metres.

Just been to the builders' merchant to ask about board for building a cupboard. I'd made all the measurements in millimetres, but it still comes in 8' x 4' sheets! (Which have an area of 32 square feet, by the way).
In Belgium its length and width is measured in cms but the thickness - and pipe and hose pipe fitting dimensions - are as often in 8ths of an inch than mms. Odd.

M small 2 is 1 square metre you can say metre squared but it isn't grammatically correct but the same size
