I only use gloves when pruning anything very jaggy .... so my hands do end up a right mess by the end of the day.
I like Crabtree & Evelyn Gardeners Hand Therapy ... lovely stuff and always a welcome gift (I throw out plenty of big hints at strategic times of the year!)
I am thinking of trying to make my own with beeswax as we've got tonnes of it and there's only so many candles you can use.

Almond Hand Cream Recipe Ingredients: 1/4 cup of beeswax 1/2 cup of almond oil 1/2 cup of coconut oil 1/4 cup of rosewater Directions: Heat 1/4 cup of beeswax slowly in a double boiler. Add 1/2 cup of almond oil to the melted beeswax. Stir in 1/2 cup of coconut oil. Mix in 1/4 cup of rosewater and stir until thoroughly mixed. You can buy rosewater, or make your own by simmering 1 cup of fresh rose petals in one and a half cups of distilled water for 10 minutes and then straining the flowers from the water. Pour the hand cream into a container while it is still hot, as it will become firm as it cools.

It's the finger nails I struggle with. Looking at mine now (as I wait for the delayed train for work) they are awful, and all around them they are messy. Tricky when you work in an office where no one else seems to enjoy gardening and there is lots of pointing at plans etc. so fingers regularly on display.
Ha ha Fairygirl you can tell when I've an important meeting as the dark nail varnish comes out! I'm afraid with gardening, diy, owning a land rover... try as I might these hands look awful. I struggle with wearing gloves asI just can't find a pair that fit properly. Funny enough I was thinking of attempting to find another pair today.
I'm actually finding cheap hand cream from Aldi best; I think it has to do with the fact that its so cheap you just slap a load on without thinking much about it while the good stuff is delicately applied and you are reluctant to keep reapplying just because you've washed your hands. The Aldi stuff I reapply at every chance while I'm working (I.e. toilet break, tea break, biscuit break, tea break, can you just come and hold this break...)

Hosta - that made me laugh out loud
I start with good intentions, but invariably, the gloves come off after about five minutes. Hopeless with them on
I do use them for doing 'lifting heavy, dirty objects' type of work.
My hands always look rubbish anyway so I doubt it's worthwhile trying anything on them!
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
pansyface, you obviously weed left-handed, like I do.
Hi,
I wear those cotton gloves with the dimples on, a present from a mate who works in a milk bottling plant.
Also my wife bought me Waitroses garden bergamot and jasmine hand cream, it is excellent!
Cannot go around with rough hands, can I?
