Alliums
in Plants
I've not been able to plant my allium bulbs over the Autumn. Is it still OK to plant them now?

Thanks ... I'll give it a go!
I reckon they'll grow too. as Bilje says , nothing to lose.
Thank you. I've planted them so wait to see what happens
I have several years experience of planting bulbs later than the stated times. This goes for a whole manner of bulbs from daffs to alliums and everything else in between. Various reasons exist from people giving me stuff they have ordered on-line and forgot ot that I have simply not had the time to get them in!
The results will vary enormously. Daffs tend to be better at being late planted where as the smaller bulbs such as crocosmia may not survive. However, never say never. I tend to plant smaller bulbs in pots to see if they do come up and the larger bulbs in containers. That way I can see what happens.
Smaller allium bulbs doe not do as well but plant them anyway. Nature has its own way of working.
Thank you very much Paul. I have some smaller allium bulbs so I'll try those in pots first.
I'm so happy to have found this site!! I bought a package of large purple alliums and weren't able to plant them last fall as I was supposed to.
I've got some large pots hanging around and going to plant them and put in a sunny spot. Some have started to sprout, but unfortunately I don't see any root growth.
Thanks All for the Info!!
Last week 4 of my allium pots started sprouting so things are looking good
I got some in pots from tescos and they had about 4 to 5 inches growth and there was 4 bulbs to each pot so I split them and planted in the ground in a spot where they will get sun all day will I get flowers this year or will I have to wait till next year ?
