  • Sadly true but cats aren't controllable which is reflected in the law, they are classed as wild animals and legally you have no responsibility for their actions.

I think you are a little unfair! I DO care about what my cats do and I wish all the neighbours' cats wouldn't poo in my garden, but there is absolutely nothing I can do about it.

Posy, I said " many owners", I didn't even say MOST,and certainly not ALL. I certainly didn't mean it to imply you personally.

To be fair the one thing that can be done , is not replace your cat when it dies in ripe old age.

Get your own cat! Preferably a Bengal - They will attack any other cat on sight (and dogs actually!) and they can be fully obedience trained. Boots the Bengal NEVER p---- or p---- on the veg plot or in the flower beds - Rushes indoors to the scratchbox every time!!

My sister has a problem with neighbouring cats coming into her garden and bullying her cat. She considered getting a mega water blaster and talked about it at work. A colleague said she would report it to the RSPCA if she used one. She then contacted the RSPCA to see if they were genuinely concerned. The guy she spoke to said it wasn't illegal to use them but they felt it was too powerful an effect and they prefered people to use water pistols.

What was very interesting was that he then told her it was essential to remain hidden when you soaked the cat. This meant the cat associated her garden with the unpleasant sensation and keeps away, whereas if the cat sees who is squirting it responds to the person rather than the location and still comes in the garden..
