My two older cats have kidney failure so they poop and pee constantly but they will not go outside. They spend hours outside but always come in to use their litter tray - by the time I get home from work it's like the black hole of Calcutta!
So yes I can imagine it isn't that pleasant if all the neighbourhood cats go in your beds. But I always think yes it's irritating but there is no point getting upset and there is nothing we can do about it, the law says cats may roam where they will.
But there are plenty of good devices on the market now. My neighbour fell foul of his own cat jet sprayer recently, I heard the shriek from inside, couldn't resist a snigger
About the fox Hortico, Smoky my cat is an appalling alpha male who just can't bear any other creature on his territory, the fox has a cub and he will go and try and bully it so I think mum intervened.
Smoky once rounded my husband up and herded him into a corner of the living room where he tried to bite his leg. He is a very naughty boy
if you are looking fora cat to keep other cats off your garden British long hairs/shorthairs or even a half pedigree are extremely territorial and will not allow other cats anywhere near the garden (or dogs, foxes or postmen) :-/
I mentioned dogs only because SOME cats will stay out if they are regularly discouraged.
If you have a cat yourself (and I am bored of mentioning this on here), if you put a litter tray outside in your own garden under shelter, your own cat will often use it rather than going into other people's gardens.

Steve, I think the trouble is many cat owners don't care if their cats poo in the neighbours' gardens.
