Tiny clematis just now will be little more than a cutting from last year. They need potted on and given time. They won't be big enough this year to look much. They're not like seeds or annuals, as Dave has said. Patience is required if you buy these tiny little plants.

If you want a flowering clematis this year, you're better buying one that's a couple of  years old from a GC or nursery.  image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

i thought 2 of mine were dead then they sprang back to life, lots going on under the soil

  • That's good rosemummy - it's amazing how they spring into life when you think there is no hope!

  • Mine arrived 13.2.16 and were potted into 7.5cm pots, they all had a bit of a root system and a tiny tiny bit of top growth. I'm pleased enough with them and look forward to growing them on. They're currently out back which is covered and stays well above freezing. When the weather warms up a bit they'll get moved to a grow house with the door open and then outside in early summer.

  • ladygardener2 - there is hope of a stunning display next year - I must pull out the picture from the GW, as I have already forgotten the colours!

  • Mine turned up this morning! One very vigorous, one not even a stump, the other two somewhere in between.

Have potted them all in 9cm pots and will keep them all inside for a while. All had good root systems as far as I'm any judge!

How are the special offer clematis doing.  My SO spring bulbs are really beautiful, lots of deaf fervent colours and varieties with the tulips

  • All growing very well now seakale - look on clematis plug plant offer thread (or similar) to see pictures of mine & Sparkles

  • B IU

  • Today I received my special offer 5 clematis - got them last year and 3 survived, hoping for 100% this year.  Sorry no pictures at present, but I have potted them all up - 4 looked good and 1 a bit iffy.  I will post some pictures in a few days time.

Has anyone else on here ordered/received their clematis yet.  They are from Mont Rose - Raymond Evison's nursery.
