  • I wish I had a decent camera - love these pictures & the beefly is amazing - & so friendly. I saw my first shield bug today - sunning itself on the outside window sill.

    i saw one of those for the first time a while back and was like "what the hell is that??!!"

    i found a bee relaxing on a twig today, was amazing to get a close pic as they r usually buzzing about

    Fidget, they'll be loving the primulas most likely 

    it said on spring watch one year that these creatures lay their eggs whilst flying past an unsuspecting ground bee's nest,  depositing it from a great height for their size, amazing but true! 

    I think the larvae is parasitic image

    Yes, we have the beeflys and their prey, and they do love the primulas. We have the solitary bees that nest in the ground, and tree bees in bird boxes, as well as the usual bumble bees. I am planting some Stachys byzantina, hoping for carder bees.
