Sorry to hear about those PM's P'doc - nasty and unnecessarily upsetting for anybody to receive.

If it's any consolation I also find this forum to be a supportive and friendly one and probably more important to be me than it should be.

Your postings are generally succinct and witty - there must be some sensitive souls out there to be upset by you.

If you don't mind a bit of a drive you should come and join us if we have one of our East Anglian group visits. We sometimes venture a bit further west (some members have even been known to get visas to cross the A1 to get to Barnsdale!) and it's a really nice group of people - very friendly - and you've spoken to all of us at one time or another.

Hope we get something organised for this year - you'll be very welcome if we do image

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • People who send malicious PM's ought to be ashamed of themselves. If they haven't the balls to post in public then they ought not to post at all. You should name and shame them punkdoc and expose the blighters for what they are!

Surely the only people who should / can decide what discussion are or are not permitted are the mods / controllers of the site.  If anybody has a valid reason to feel that a subject is not suitable for the site they need to raise it with the mods.  The members here are free to contribute to any thread, or not, as they wish.  I don't think any member here has the authority to determine what other members can or cannot discuss.

The Dove is for peace and so it should be!

Religion, race, politics and sexuality are personal and should be kept that way!

This forum should be mostly be about all things gardening with a few other thrown in, such as the death of David Bowie today, no one could possibly object to this?

The things I object to are the goodie, goodie two shoes who say they are totally organic as if the rest of us are criminals, say they don't use chemicals as they scoff their can of lager, go out and bay at the moon before planting their seeds, no dig because they are too lazy to dig, say they don't use weedkiller or insecticides and then let their pests and weed seeds blow onto my allotment making my task twice as had, and finally would if they could stop me using peat or peat based products, total spoil sports

I would suggest that the non-gardening topics shouldn't be in this forum at all.  They should be in the Potting Shed.  "Venture into the potting shed for garden gossip, topical debate or idle chit-chat."

After all the subjects causing contention are definitely topical debate and have tiddly squat to do with gardening. image
