Tidyg - you're right - he took a little while to take over the world, but early fans knew how special he was way back at the start
They've been doing a tribute all day on R2. It's been wonderful and moving at the same time.
Hosta - they played a live version of Kooks from a BBC prog when he'd just written it. You have to make sure you say 'downtown' in that Anthony Newley way he did
# Comedian, chameleon, Corinthian and caricature.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I was perhaps a tad young to appreciate David Bowie in his prime. However, I am the youngest brother with an older sister too and fully recognise him as a quite unique talent.
The fact he can't be 'pigeon-holed' speaks volumes because the true greats rise above genres. His music was David Bowie music, his charisma an inspiration to many who followed. I feel very sad today...
I can't say I have been a great fan of Bowie. Certainly there have been tracks which I enjoy and he certainly made an impact on the music industry.
Certainly not his fault, but every channel seems to have gone overboard with coverage since his death. At the end of the day he was just a man who has succumbed to illness. Does it really warrant wall to wall coverage?
As explained on forkers...(was claricestarling67, now the above)!.
I was Devastated about the death of a Genius, so down to earth over the years also and one or Only one I knew that was soooo big in showbiz but able to walk about without being bothered with paps/fans etc, they seemed to respect his privacy. I was almost hung/drawn/quartered when I was young as I dyed my hair because of david...(which came out bright orange lol). No matter what, I kept the said hair colour and went onto college to become a hairdresser and I have been blonde since and never changed. By the news, he will be one true legend that will be very sadly missed.
