They need light as well as heat, the days are drawing out now but still not enough hours of light. Have sown early and late they all ripen around the same time so patience my friend. Was still eating the last of mine late October from Spring sowing.

  • Looks like a No then. March winds will blow, we will have Snow and all that. But with all this climate change will Spring be early ?

No Verdun we can sugest, when they actually do get sown is then up to them. Who among us have not sown early then cursed as a month of frost wrecked our initial joy. We who have lived long enough know Verdun is correct, this is the good old British unpredictable weather or else unknowingly we had climate change before it was invented. If we on our small Island think we can change things I say read the world news, Asia will put seven million vehicles on the road and light up a coal fired power station every month. How can we stop that i ask ?

  • Don't know but it is persisting it down here now and yes a mention of colder things to come on the weather news today. Anyway satisfied my eagerness and sowed broad beans instead in plug trays in cold green house where a fig or two have just ripened.Happy Gardening one and all .
