Pen-Blwydd Priodas Hapus on the 29th David and Mrs M.                                   Joan and I made our 60th and the Queens Card before illness took her from me nearly five years ago now. The following Christmases went over my head though this one I wanted to be different well that certainly happened and I am sure Joan would be watching. My next Christmas is booked already, my Granddaughter will be coming from Canada with a new born? and My Grandson will become a father too so two new Great Grandchildren to welcome and spoil.

Life has many ups and downs David, they only way is on and up, the way I have lived and still do live my life. Happy anniversary.

    Frank.

Thank you Hazel or Dioch as David may say, you are correct about life and it's many paths, I could well have been saying it from the South of Wales instead of the North East of England had things turned out differently in Bridgend all those years ago. It was not to be the Army moved you on before roots could be nurtured. For the best it seems as things turned out but who knows. Modern times, I have seen both scans and really look forward to the additions to our complex and compact family, unlike some older people I am never alone with my lot, keeps me young.

Hazel, I came home, born in Norton Stockton on Tees and then traveled. Wales was where I was stationed several times in various places Bridgend being the first. As with all soldiers you pick up odd bits of language mainly German though that started with POW's working for me in the Middle East, they lived in the East of Germany and could not go home. We have no idea what paths we will take or what fortunate events will change that path, luckily I always seemed to be in the right place at the right time. Hence my good fortune today. In the end I married a girl who lived in my village Norton, life came full circle.

  • Oops, Hazel: at least you spotted the signs before total disaster!! Best treat yourself (& OH) to a 'restorative' tot + tonic & a couple of mince pies whilst you count your blessings!

Thanking you, both Frank & Hazel for your kind wishes for our anniversary. We haven't any family in Wales now, so we re-import our exported son, Aidan & his family when we get a chance to celebrate! Both our parental homes were in adjacent villages on the N Warwicks / S Staffs border, so the diminishing tribal survivors are a full 200 miles from us. Each gathering therefore, is full of significance for all of us.

*We none of us like icing, but we do love nuts n' fruit toppings, so this is the 'Deliarised' Christmas / cum Anniversary cake which we will all be setting about over the next few days [it rarely sees the New Year!! (Mrs M does the baking, I am responsible for the 'decor'].
