Christmas presents for Gardeners

  • When we had all our interior doors, architrave and skirting boards replaced, we had a carpenter here for 10 days.  Every time I wanted to go to the loo, he seemed to be kneeling down outside the door doing something.  Sometimes of course - there was no door.    We put a camper-van porta potti in my shed, and very useful it was too.    I always used to say( in a loud voice ) that I was just taking my dog to the garden, so she had to come in the shed with me, but she was more interested in the spiders in the corner.  Shed's are useful for all sorts of things, I like being in mine when it's pouring with rain as well. image

I get my three dandelions on Thursday . I expect we will spend all weekend installing them. Thank you, Amy at Fantasywire. Pics to follow.image

I always have a book for Christmas. This year I have  "Dream plants for natural gardens" by Piet Oudolf and Henk Gerritsen. It lists good plants, invasive plants and difficult plants.

I've asked for ine of those roll out paths. And garden centre vouchers. Got a compost stirrer and boot scraper for my birthday and inherited some long handled loppers, a lawnmower (though I haven't yet got a lawn) and a shovel recently, so I'm doing well.

I asked for paving slabs (for the second greenhouse who frame has been propped up by the garage for a year now), but was told that was boring and to think of special.

So I'm going to ask for some dwarf fruit trees, with pots and soil. Oh and a grape vine to be grown in my second greenhouse that incidentally needs slabs before I can errect it...

(Being Yorkshire we have an outside loo: I have to say aside from being very cold in the winter it is wonderful for gardening stoppages!)

  • My Mum-in-law had one until recently, she used to keep her garden tools in it.

I've just read LG's post, and I'd like a roll out path too. image

Clari we don't have an outside loo but have something down the garden that looked like a well but is a big metal drum 10' down that looks like a septic tank (intrepid went down to examine after we pumped the water out ) image We are officially connect to main drain image

What I'd really like is a bigger garden so I can have a dedicated vegetable/fruit garden, compost bins like Monty's, a shed and proper greenhouse, but if I can't have that, a new strawberry pot will do.image

I would like someone to dig out my borders and put in some raised beds and then I'd like someone to remove the celandine that I foolishly left in my first year and then, once they've finished with that I'd like them to get rid of all my dandelions (not Fidgets).

In short, I think I'd like a decent under gardener image or in fact, just an under gardener, they don't have to be decent image
