I'm assuming the island will be a lush subtropical paradise with streams, waterfalls and plenty of edibles and drippy foliage etc etc - so that's sorted.
In addition, I would have: primroses, violets, calendula, lavender, thalia daffodils, cosmos, roses and Californian poppies.
The book would be something that tells me how to identify and use the plants on my island.
Well now - daffodils, aquilegia, cosmos,Japanese anemone, bamboo ( in a huge tub - we don't want it all over the island ), pelargonium and tulips, tulips and more tulips, and finally clematis.
To read, I'd take Reynard the fox/The Ghost Heath run by John Masefield. And could I please be allowed a bar of fruit and nut as my extravagance. Thank you.
My kids won one of those ENORMOUS 4.5 kilo Toblerones in a raffle a couple of years ago, it was so heavy! We gave away several of the chunks and still managed to completely stuff our faces over the course of a few weeks.
