I have seen some for sale in catalogues grown as sort of standards. Don't know if they are a particular variety or if they are grafted onto something suitable for pots. Are you thinking of moving yours from the ground to a pot? It may depend on how big it is and how big the roots have grown.
If you're going to move it anyway and don't have a suitable place to replant, then I would try it in a (large) pot, (You may have to prune the roots). If that fails you will have a good excuse to try something else. It would be a shame to lose an established plant though.

It seems a shame to cut it to the ground unless you absolutely have to.
If you could leave about 2m of stems, you'd have something with which to start training when it's relocated.
If you do cut it " to the ground" make sure you don't go below the graft point.

I'd not grow one in a pot less than, say , half barrel size.
