Odd looking plant

It wasn't there yesterday. It looks like a couple of pieces of pipe insulation. I would guess that it's some type of fungus, I've never seen anything like it before though. I must be really intreagued as this is the first time that I've asked a question! help identification assistance would be gratefully received. Thanks
