Compost heap under large sycamore so leaves get mixed in anyway! Seem to rot down quickly as I don't see them the next spring. Thanks for reassurance chaps
I had mainly sycamore at my house round the corner - made great leaf mould.
I found the black bags with holes much quicker than the wire container. The container dries out more than bags do. I started with a container, but as the tree got bigger, I needed another one. Not having time to make it, I used bags one year, rather than letting the leaves go to waste. They were rotted really well after a year, while the others were still a bit hit and miss.
If you can just run your mower over them roughly, then gather them back up , they'll rot quicker Marc. That might be better for you if you don't have lots of room.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Nothing wrong with sycamore leaves for leaf mould imo

Think ill go get several more bags over the week
Still got to try and cut up but probably won't do well
Nice woodland floor smell if all is well. Maybe I got it wrong
about sycamore then, if everyone else finds them
OK.
can I just chip in that sweet chestnut is the worst. They're like leather by the time they hit the ground.

I use builders 1 tonne size bags,
I fill two, after a year they have gone down to about half, I turn them into one bag, and use after second year. Mine are mainly oak leaves.
Yes will have to watch for hedgehog, I feed one every night
