Thank you David, I will pinch them out tomorrow. when I bought them I put them in my cold greenhouse.

I will sort out a pot for them tomorrow and somethink for them to climb up. Do you have to feed them, if so could you tell me what to feed them and when. Thank you so much for your help.

David, This year I've grown pre spencer varieties and they seem to be much slower growing, or is it my imagination.

  • Initially there will be enough feed in your compost, start a weekly high potash feed when they begin to flower.

Be very careful when you separate the individual plants, ie tease them apart gently, as they don't like root disturbance.

Mine have been the same, Yvie.....it's just been that kind of winter.

I've been comparing photos of my garden at the same time (early April) this year and last, and all of the plants are slower this year.

  • ......and I should have said spring, not 'winter'. image

  • Hope those who value the scent of sweet peas, remembered me mentioning the variety 'Painted Lady'.....it's extremely old and has a gorgeous scent.

Thank you for all the info David, you have help me loads.

    Those painted lady are beautiful.

  • Yes, they are beautiful flowers David - .  I am still at the pinching out stage with my seedlings - they are bushing up nicely.  They are still in a cold GH but near the door which is open all day. When can they go outside to harden off? No frosts here now.
