Was going to sow mine in an unheated GH this weekend....but sounds like you would recommend holding off for a few weeks David - have I got that right?
No harm in sowing now, chicky....but you will need warmth of something like 10c/50f to germinate the seed and as I said to Hosta, there will be little difference if you waited for another month or so.
Thank you, they where my first attempt last year so I'm using the seeds from last years crop, I've got loads left over if you know anyone who wants some : )
Just an additional thought re the wicker obelisks - are they a bit 'solid' when covered with sweet peas? Air flow's important. I'd make sure they had a good space between them Lucid because they'll quickly grow and fill the space. Not too many in your pot. I use about 6 round an 18 inch pot, but I often stick a couple extra in if any don't germinate well. Would you agree with that David?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Yes that happened to my tomatoes, I didn't realise how big one plant would get and so I ended up with five all squashed in a mini green house with white powdery leafs You live and learn

Well done, flumpy......they look great!
I'm not certain, but I think there's a 'seed swap' thread somewhere.....I'll have a scout around!
Not sure if this is the current one, flumpy, but it's a start: www.gardenersworld.com/forum/the-potting-shed/wish-list-for-seed-and-plant-swap/406023-57.html#replybox
I've bumped up the new seed swap thread

Oh yes, for sure, FG........less is more. Over planting and thus poor air circulation will result in powdery mildew later in the season.
