I finally have 2 flowers! sowed around 75, half got eaten as I wasn't on the ball enough topping up beer traps and picking snails /slugs at night, the rest are half as tall as normal and buds only really showed last week, this is the most awful season so far for me, wet and miserable

Weather can be such a big factor rosemummy.  image

My Cupanis have just started flowering here. Always a favourite for me, one of the original sweet peas.

    Small but so perfumed. image

I sowed Beaujolais again - only had a few seeds left.  Unsuccessful last year,  but that was down to the compost I had - far too water retentive and they rotted. Will definitely get more though image

Mine are very late but are just starting. Lots of buds on, but the first buds fell off with the cold weather.

There was an advert popping up earlier for sweet peas as cut flowers... I was interested until I saw they were £42 for 50 stems, image

I'd say, mine are flowering about the normal time. I mainly sow direct in spring fidget. It's rarely worth while doing anything earlier because when you put them out, they just sulk in the normally cold, wet spring weather. I started them in the growhouse this year because of the building work. It was luck more than judgement that I could get mine out and growing when that was finished as the weather has been more benign.

We have been in Derbyshire today. Hubby wanted to try out a new scanner, anyway we ended up at Chatsworth farm shop. They had some local grown really impressive sweet peas at £4 a bunch.  Maybe I need to feed mine a bit more.
